About Dr Tran Quang Minh

Born in 1938 in Châu Đc province of Vietnam.

After graduating from the prestigious Jean Jacque Rousseau high school in Saigon he was one of the first students chosen for the leadership program to be trained in the USA.  He was the only one who chose an agriculture career (animal science and veterinary medicine) instead of a more popular career in medicine, pharmacy, economic, management, or engineering …

After graduating from Oklahoma State University with the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree,  he came back to Vietnam to teach at the National Agricultural Institute (NAI) and at the same time hold several important positions in the Ministry of Agriculture as well as Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

First he was appointed the Director of Tân Sơn Nht Livestock Experimental Center where one of his missions was to carry out the National Accelerated Protein Production Program.  His next position in the Ministry of Agriculture was Chief Cabinet when he was charged with Building an Ownership Society for a Rural Social Revolution (The Land To The Tiller Program). After the completion of this LTTTP in record time, he was appointed General Director of Agriculture, in charge of many important agricultural revolutionary programs, among them is the Accelerated Miracle Rice Production Program.

His last position in the South Vietnamese government before the fall of Saigon at the end April, 1975 was General Administrator of The National Food Administration, an autonomy organization which is part of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Economics). Among the missions of this organization is stabilizing the chaotic rice market at that time.

After the fall of Saigon in April, 1975, Dr. Gary Trn Quang Minh immigrated to the USA where he, until the present time, practices veterinary medicine, runs a KumOn educational program, and studies/practices holistic medicine.

In 2011, he was commissioned “Kentucky Colonel”, the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky where he has lived since 1975.
